Which longboard is right for me?

I live in rural Virginia, and it's pretty hilly there. I'm not sure if I'm a carver or otherwise (I have no idea). Basically all I do is just skate around, up some gradual hills and down, occasionally working on tricks at the elementary school. But I ride a Torpedo 40 (Original), my first board (I got it when I was like ten for Christmas) from like forever ago. I really need a new board, cause mine's all tattered. What are some awesome boards? Not just brands, though. I've checked a bunch of those and their descriptions of the boards are not really good. If you could help, that would be awesome.
