Can anyone please give me a couple of African Americans who contributed to American Life?Black History Month?

Cannot be MLK, Malcolm X, Carver, or Booker T. Sorry, but they're too common. Also please put what they contributed to American life. All I've found are the names of people who Graduated first from this college, or was the first to earn a p.h.d in chemistry, etc...
